This wont be like the reports on the web page cos these werent really official investigations.
This will be just a synopsis of what we did and found beneath the streets of Edinburgh.
One Austrailian, one Brit and two Americans joined up with the Blair Street ghost tour at the St Giles church.
There were about 15-20 of us, mostly consisting of people who had not been on a ghost tour before.
As we congregated to listen to the tour guide do his initial introduction to the tour itself, I happened to notice a bunch of young girls in our group. They had obviously not been on anything like this before and as the guide started to talk you could see one or two of them appeared physically scared! We werent even in the vaults at this time LOL.
They stood enthrauled as the guide Roger spoke about the dark underground vaults and one poor girl looked like a rabbit caught in headlights!
Oh dear off to a great start!!
We commenced to our first destination of the evening. Following Roger down some steep narrow side roads we came across a doorway which was the entrance to the vaults which they had soul access to.
Unfortuantly as we arrived another group was just leaving, which to me totally spoiled the whole thing. I was just thinking, how can anything paranormal be captured in these places when there is a constant stream of people looking round them. Little groups shoved down there for a timed look around!
But i must admit the whole thing was actually very good.
We followed a few stairs down into the first very small vault and listened to Roger as he described life as it was down in the vaults.
People lived and died in these vaults right across Edinburgh, doing daily things but all underground, its actually quite hard to think that people actually lived in these places as if it was normal to do so.
Anyway we then headed off into one of the bigger rooms.
I was immidiatly drawn to a room off this larger room. I cant call what i felt a pressence but i was just drawn to the atmosphere in it. Roger had seen that myself and mollie had some ghost investigation equipment and actually said if we wanted to wander off on our own we could, he was quite happy about us doing that. Maybe we actaully looked professional LOL
Anyway having done some base EMF readings and temperature readings nothing unusual was seen and no major fluctuations were recorded.
However at one point Mollie did get a spike on the EMF meter but then we quickly realised she was pointing the meter at Richards camera, hense the small spike she was getting!
On into the corridor which connected the next lot of rooms. I felt another pressence (call it what ever) but nothing outstanding.
I moved into another room, larger than the previous one but with a lower ceiling. The group followed with Roger then dishing out EMF meters which gave a constant noise! Very exciting for the uninitiated!
However annoying for me.
I was standing at the doorway of another room when i heard what sounded like a stone landing on the floor.
The floor in the vaults was of compacted earth, but dry thankfully.
I heard the stone in a further room and as soon as i heard it i ventured into it. Now this room had a very distinct atmosphere about it.
I stood in the middle of the room using Mollies K2 meter. This particular meter will detect and change in the electro magnetic field and this is shown by 5 lights flashing on. One green light is on constantly but if you get a spike all five will light up.
I was standing in the middle of the room when i saw a stone fly infront and across me!
There was no one else in the room with me, the others where all in the previous room playing with there emf meters!
I quickly pointed the emf meter in the direction of where the stone had come from and up till now had had no lights flash. Suddenly all five lights flashed on!!
Pete was luckily at the door way and i stepped towards him and told him id heard two stones and had a spike on the K2.
He was filming me at the moment when i moved my arm to see if the K2 would spike again, it DID! He caught it on camera to.
Where i was standing there were no electric cables to interfere with the K2, so why it spiked i had no idea!
As i stood with my arm out waiting to see if it would do it for a third time, i felt a very cold chill on my right side. This chill moved around my back and down onto my left side.
I quickly took some temperature readings and it was a normal 16 degress on my right but on my left side fell away to about 10 degrees! There was absolutly no draft down there to cause this either.
Both myself and pete considered it might have been because my arm was holding the K2 meter out at length and there fore created the feeling that it was cold as it wasnt against my body as the other one was.
But...........it was just the outside of my arm which was cold not the inside and it also spread around my back. It was decidedly unusual and a very strange feeling.
On asking out for a stone to be thrown or have the light flash again, nothing happened. So I have no idea what it was or could have been.
The rest of the group entered the room and mollie thought shed found some strange emf readings, but on investigation it was just an emergency light on the other side of the wall. Bugger!
That was to be our only interesting bit of this vault tour.
Again im not saying it was paranormal but it was certainly strange.
We did try to recreate the sound of the stone which id heard and to me it wasnt the sound of just a stone dropping from the ceiling, but rather one which had been thrown. The fact that i saw the second stone was quite interesting because as i say at that time there was no one in or near the room i was in.
Interesting to say the least.
Over all this ghost walk was good and Roger was a brilliant tour guide.
