Git defends phone apps for invos

Good grief. I cannot believe there was some twat on FB defending the use of phone apps for paranormal invos. Sheesh. I joined my friend's paranormal group on FB. I've known her a number of yeas and she is an active investigator out of Colorado. Anyway, one of the members there wrote up a "document" about the correlation between lunar phases, solar flares, etc with paranormal activity. All I could think of was, where the hell did he get the idea that there was a correlation to begin with? Did he consult with an astrophysicist about this? No. He got the info from his iPhone. Bloody hell. What a git.

I made a bit of a rant about the absurdity of it. Where was his data coming from other than the phone? I stated that what was needed was a database of "evidence" collected via instrumentation, versus case histories where the data is primarily anecdotal. He then accused me of not knowing about the various case history collections around the world- of course I do, having done the Edinburgh course studies.

It galled me that this bloke was so utterly convinced that an iPhone app was scientifically valid for evidence gathering. Sheesh. Okay, someone please let me know where I can find a FLIR app for my phone please... ;-)

Yeah. I can't believe that a person would take seriously a phone app. It would be like going to the doctor's to get your cardio checked, and the doc pulls out a phone to measure your heart rate. Blimey. And this was from an intelligent guy in all other respects. I get the impression he's young. He was writing up documents about solar flares etc as though they were fact, that they are correlated to paranormal events. He got a lot of flack from others in our group too, so I wasn't the only one who was being critical. At least he came around and edited his article with the caveat that it is all theory, not fact. I'll give him that. Gads. It annoys me when other people who have an interest in the paranormal are just so full of shite.

Gwahahaha!!!! The guy also cites reports of studies that are non-existent. I challenge him constantly and thankfully there are others who totally back me up in agreement. It's just that this group on FB is nice, with loads of new people joining all the time. I wanted to make sure that disinformation/misinformation is sorted.

I thought he was someone young and naive, but he's an adult, LOL and claims to be a professional photographer. Anyway, you and Ally ought to join in. It's a good group in general. It's just this one person who tends to say things that are absolute rubbish.

They are basically a nice group. My friend April started the group and she's outlined some very strict rules about polite behaviour. So, I feel really quite "safe" there in voicing my opinions, LOL.

Oh Goldy, he's a twat. Tries to come off as some smart arse knowing this and that, like he's some expert. And most annoying is that he'll cite studies and can't produce the articles himself. Bloody annoying, that.
