If we take can actually determine what a ghost is, how does it manifest itself and why.
Most believers would say a ghost manifests itself by absorbing energy from things and or people gathered together.
So how would it then transfer this energy (which to be fair needs clarifying) into something it can actual use to manifest at a given time.
There must be some process it goes through to turn this collected energy into something it can use. If thats the case then surely this process must be measurable by scientifc methods, because to change something into something usable takes energy.

Maybe the energy is a very small amount. Small enough to have an effect on the visual cortex of your brain so that you see an image that isn't actually where you're looking. Maybe a ghost is a frequency.

If ghosts exist, I can understand them having an energy that we don't know about or understand. But if they are taking energy from us, then this is something we can measure since we exist in a known physical world. Maybe the focus of ghost investigations should be shifted to the people experiencing them. If we are giving up any kind of energy ( whether its us or our equipment ) this drain should be more easily measured than something esoteric from the ghost itself.
I know people already claim that temperature drops and battery drains and other such things from "our side" are evidence for ghostly manifestation. We should be doing research in optimizing our understanding of this phenomena, if it is real, rather than just experiencing it. If we can prove it is real, and measure exactly what is taken, and how and when it is taken, this could be the window into the other side people have been looking for.

We should be doing research in optimizing our understanding of this phenomena, if it is real, rather than just experiencing it. Yep, doing that too. You need to come on a ghost hunt with us.

We have come up with a few experiments which do measure some of the changes, we as people, go through. The disappointing thing is that some of the experiments which wed like to do would cost a shed load of money to get the equipment we need. Its not even scientific equipment either, its medical equipment!
We are now introducing ways of monitoring peoples responses to certain things. How the body changes, and what changes occur. The question is though that if a person believes its a paranormal experience their having then would that then change the outcome of the readings, even if it was an explainable event. I think beforehand you have to take base line readings, just as you would doing an investigation.

Maybe your team will be the vanguard of the new wave of paranormal investigation.

Well were trying Brian, but it seems to be taking ages to get anywhere with people and show them that you have to look outside the paranormal to find it!

That's because they don't want to hear it. They are all thrilled to be a part of something big and important-seeming and so they don't want to be disillusioned of that.
